OK. Sounds like it will take several hours to charge huh? Hey, I appreciate all the input.

yes, but for a small gell cell, once it reaches 14v at 2.0amp the battery is prob around 80-90% charged anyway, what takes time is that last 10% where the charge rate drops.

curious if anyones done any modding with two ice chargers in a custom case?

we've all seen Pulsars (sarquis, ruby?) and others put other chargers in custom cases.... has anyone done up two ice's?

just curious.

the charge leads are too short for my application. if i extend them to about twice their stock length, will it affect the voltage readout, peak detect circuitry, and other functions of the charger? thanks in advance for any info

It should effect the voltage reading only while current is flowing, but may not interfere with anything at all. Most of the chargeing leads are much oversized to begin with and if you were doing low voltage and/or high current (single cells) then the leads could be made heavier. For normal chargeing using same gage wires is probably going to be just fine.

i've extended them to 1 foot for each lead, and have not seen any differences noticible on my end... 1 foot is more than enough.

what also works great (and i found these at my local electronics store..) are the right angle plugs. makes it easier for the plugs to come toward the front:

note this is just an image for illustrative purposes, i used a much heavy duty one.. this one from radio shack is a bit "flimsy".

thanks for the info good tip on the angled plugs, ill try to look for those. im also going to look for a servo extension for the temp probe, almost forgot about that, when i extend the leads and the temp probe is still too short

my backlit ice flickers when I feed it 13.8v, how do I reduce the voltage on my hobbico power supply to 12vdc?

A while back, I posted the mod to the back light kit by adding a 12V Regulator that you can buy from Radio Shack for about $3. This will keep the input voltage at the 12V even if you use a higher input voltage such as the 13.8V. You may have to look back kind of far (posted up about a year ago) or search my posts.

backlight flicker its because of power overload? well when i bought it new from hobicco, the light kit never flickers, but after many month, it flickers, i suppose its a fault with the regulator?
