Futaba 3PRKA
#1
Does anyone have one of these Futaba 3PRKA TXes?
I got one with a R203GF rx, every now and again (without any pattern) it glitches. Does not depend on environment; happens regularly where ever I run it. It looks like the signal drops out, the signal light switches off and the throttle goes to failsafe. Adding a cap to the RX or running directly off batteries doesn't do anything.
I can't check the TX/RX individually as I dont have another Futaba FHSS TX.

Second, re-link the TX/RX immediately after this happens.

It's a bad controller. Mine does the same thing. So have others reported.
I've tried it in my regular track (where old AM radios work fine), yet this controller glitches, signal losses, car crashing hard.
I've tried in my garage, same issue. Signal losses.
Sadly this controller is aimed at beginners, who will leave the hobby because of a poorly designed controller.

I'm so disappointed as this was meant to be glitch free 2.4GHz super machine.
Anyway... I asked tech support if this is normal. After few emails back&forth I got this:
"I am sorry that you have had a problem with one of our systems. Please
ship your transmitter and receiver to:
Hobby Services
3002 N Apollo Dr Suite 1
Champaign IL 61822
with a detailed letter describing the problem and include a copy of
your receipt from purchase. Our staff will inspect your system and will
notify you regarding their findings. If it is found to be a warranty
defect, the system will be repaired or replaced at our option at no cost
to you. If it is not a failure covered under warranty, you will be
notified of your options for return, repair or replacement. Thank you
for your patience and, of course, your business."
so here is the recipe for us.

My 3PL was doing this this weekend!
I did it at the track but not at home. New batteries and re linked it. I could actually see the green light flicking to red.
So frustrating...i spent extra money on this for my daughter so i wouldn't get glitching.

After using Futaba for 30years, I have now switched to Airtronics. And personally, I feel Airtronics are cheaper and better.

Hi all. After some mail exchange with Futaba US I've been directed to the UK agent Ripmax since I'm in europe. I posted my system with fault description to them. After three days of testing they couldn't replicate signal drop off. As a "precaution" they have replaced the whole unit and sent back to me at no cost.
It is working perfect since then so I'm happy user again.
My recommendation to all users with faulty units - replace or return.
Just to add one more thing - the range on this thing is incredible. You can drive it out of your sight

Yeah, I guess so. But they weren't desperate to change it right away. It took several emails explaining the problem and trying things before I was asked to post it across. So maybe they are aware that some units are messed up but always trying to resolve things first and if nothing helps offer service test. Maybe this is the way to pretend everything is okay and keep the brand name unstained but we all know where the electronic components come from right?

... so what're you saying? You sent your system to Futaba service and they didn't replaced or fixed it for you?I choose this radio for two main reasons. I just didn't feel like carrying eight AA's in the radio and then the price for 2.4GHz system was great in comparison. On top of that there is no antenna. The alternative I was considering was Spectrum DX3E in the same price range.
I just got into RC so can't really recommend a good radio.
