Default LRP ESCs - Version 2 stuff

I've had a couple of people tell me that they did not like the version 2 LRP ESCs. I was directed to the 07 Sphere Comp for example. Is there something about these newer versions that makes them not as desirable? Obviously, the older stuff is hard to come buy and all the dealers have the version 2 stuff. This will be off-road in 2wd mod buggy (10.5) and 2wd mod SCT (9.5) if it matters.

Thanks.

I have no idea why anyone would direct you to such an old ESC over LRP's newer stuff. I have 2 of the v.2 LRP's and love them both. I even had the fan come off the TC v.2 (dirt got in it and the blades came off; cheap fix) that I use with a 4.5 in my 4wd SC truck, ran the main anyway, and it wasn't even close to hot.

So how about this one for the above-mentioned applications: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-Brushless-ESC

they are a little softer and easier to drive. also the brakes are a little different. I happen to really like the v2 because you can separate the boost and throttle profiles. If you spend a little more time tuning those two settings, you'll be happy with the v2's. IDK about the brakes tho, they aren't like the older models. i'm really not sure why. they are softer when the car is going slow. I think they are the same when you are at speed. not much i can say about that. i dial my brakes down low anyways so it took me 5 mins to get used to it.
