Default Gens Ace troubles

I just recently purchased a Gens Ace 5000MAH 40C hardcase after reading all the good reviews and trying my friends out. Upon recieving the pack I put it on my charger to make sure it was blanced. All of the cells were within .01 of each other. Since my E buggy was down I put the pack on a 1 amp discharge on my Thunder AC6. A few hours later the charger gave a error reading "cell voltage error." I put the battery on a balance charge and the cell voltages read 3.40, 3.40, 2.85, and 3.40. After about 30 mins on the charger the voltages were all even. I upped the charge current from 1 amp to 2.5 amps. When the cell voltages were 4.00 all the way across I went into the drive way to see how the battery would respond to a high current dishcharge. After a few mins I came in and the cells were all even at 3.76. I then put the battery on a 3.5 amp charge. When the charger gave the full beep I looked at the cell voltages and the 3rd cell was at 4.16. I put it on a balance charge. Did I get a battery with a week cell? Do you think the battery will recover or will I have to get a new battery? Will hobbypartz take it back and replace it if I used it?

Unlikely the cell will recover, just keep an eye on it for a few cycles

If its new you could try you luck with a replacement but I dont like your chances

Cheers

I don't see 4.16 vs 4.2 as being that big of an issue. If this was a $75 lipo, yes, it would be an issue, but not with this one. It may straighten out on its own over the next few cycles too.

If it stays low and you are sure its the same cell that's staying low, you can try charging that cell directly thru the balance wires. I rescue low voltage lipos this way and some cells it fixes, some it doesn't.

Well I balanced it so all the cells are within .02 of each other. I have a race tomorrow so I will see how it holds up.
