I'm not going to give the answer, but here's another hint.

Components. American components, Russian Components, ALL MADE IN TAIWAN!

You know we're sitting on four million pounds of fuel, one nuclear weapon and a thing that has 270,000 moving parts built by the lowest bidder. Makes you feel good, doesn't it?'
It's good to see another manufacturer jumping in the game. Made in China, what isn't?

I dunno about you, but October 26 IS Late October...C'mon! WHERE IS IT!!! My new buggy is going to be here by the weekend and I want to drive it!

Ah well, I'll stick my XL-5 and Mabuchi 540RS in there until the iX8 materializes....

Damn he beat me to it. The Russian from the space station says it when he's trying to get the engine to fire on the shuttle.

Anyone know if they are still landing soon?

Got an MP9E to build and I'm sure I'll be too lazy to do it until all the bits arrive!!

Also, have LRP said whether their update software wrote the ix8 will work on Mac's like their 10th scale stuff ?

BlueGlowBoy 10-29-2011 07:45 AM

I just got unofficial word from AE that we are still looking at 2-3 weeks before they get the iX8 and the combos, so probably 3-4 weeks before they are available in stores.

Anyone think that the 2600 might be too much motor for this track? This will be my first 8th scale buggy...quite familiar with Short Course, TC, and Rally cars, but first 3 diff vehicle that is designed to be insane...

Not that I would ever start drinking Starbucks coffee, but from my research, the iX8 looks like it will use the same software and firmware language as the SXX, so yes, it should work on a ... a .... *cough* ... Mac ....

I'm glad to see more guys getting into electric buggy. I'm in for next year. From what I heard somewhere in the 1900 range is good for our track. What buggy did you get.

Ha yeah I know I know, but I use my work laptop for windows so for my private one went Mac! I don't like carrying my work one round for rc though so am stuck with things needing to work on Mac!

Fingers crossed the new ESC is out in time for the Clash event. Otherwise I am a bit stuck!

I managed to snag an RC8Be plus TONS of spare parts for a song and a dance. I got two buddies that run Losi 8ight-e 2.0s, and our track NORMALLY has enough guys to run the ebuggies as their own class. If we run with the nitro guys, we make a 3 second stop and go halfway through the main. I'm looking forward to this, as I've been racing 2 and 4wd SC, and 4wd Rally for the last year...put in 5 laps with the 8th scale buggy and fell in love.

Is there any idea yet if you can solder cables directly onto the esc instead of using the proposed bullet connectors? The posts look a bit thin for soldering and pretty close to the main body of the esc. Just prefer to solder cables in place as then it's easier to get the polarity right and not make mistakes.

BlueGlowBoy 11-09-2011 10:00 AM

I can see your point. I'll post up some other pics once mine comes in...

zixxer 11-09-2011 10:34 AM

ive been checking amain for preorder and none yet ....sucks ive got an 8.2 sitting here waiting ....cant wait all day thats foir sure

BlueGlowBoy 11-09-2011 11:14 AM

I talked to one of the guys at AE about two weeks ago, and he said that there were delays in getting the product from LRP, and that he expected them to hit AE's distribution by mid november. We should be seeing them soon. Of course, when we were waiting for the SC104x4, it was delayed by about 2 months...so maybe I'll get my iX8 for christmas!
