Default Futaba 3Pm MX and NiHM

I recently purchased a Futaba 3PM-MX transmitter and I have to say I am impressed, great radio. I have a question can you charge Duracell NiMH batteries using the internal charger? The manual states you can use NiCd but nothing about NiHM. I searched here on the forums and did not see anything that addressed this issue. Does anyone have any experience doing this or suggestions?

Thanks

If those are rechargeable NiMhs, you can charge them in the radio. Its limited so it's a slow charge - would have to know what the charger output says, but you're looking at overnight.

I use a 3PK and 3PJS Futaba radios and when I was using cells both were running NiMh. Not sure why Futaba only mentions NiCd, but mine have never had probs with NiMh (running lipo now though).

Long term, get an RC charger - shorter charge time and the newer low self discharge AAs, those are the best.

I figured they could be charged and the slow charge is not a problem because they will last all day on an overnight charge. The Duracell’s have a great life rating and should do the trick with no problems. I appreciate the information and the quick response. My concern was damaging the radio, thanks again!

Radio has protection in its charging circuit so its protected. It limits charge to low rate like 70ma. I'd start charging early in the evening and let it go as long as poss.

Duracell has the new low self discharge AAs - they call them either pre-charged or active charge -

I have the 2450mAh Duracell rechargeables, not sure if they are the same as the precharged but I am sure they will work just as well. Now if I could just get the car tuned right I would be happy. Florida is not kind to nitros!
