Default What gauge wire should I be using?

It just occurred to me that I've never really considered whether I was using the right (best) gauge wire on my kits. If I'm running 17.5 non-ramping with my off-road kits what gauge wire will give me the best overall speed? Should I use the same gauge for the battery leads that I use for the motor?

Should I be using the same on my mod 4wd 1/10 buggy?

I use LRP SXX speedos (will switch to Orion as soon as they ship) and Orion motors.

Thanks!

14 Gauge is all you need buddy for 17.5
12 gauge for 1/8 scale or super low mod motors

Hope this help.

OK - so 14 gauge is good for 1/10 then? Good - that's what I've been using. Thanks!

Technically--drawing 100+ amps on 4s with an 1/8 scale I think 10 gauge is more appropriate. My Hobbywing 150a Xerun came with 10g and the 5000 maH, 40c Turnigy I am using came with 8 gauge! For most 10th scale apps, 14 should be sufficient with 12 g for high traction, low turn motors. Trinity used to make a nice 13 g wire which is a great comprimise.
