xerun 60A vs duratrax DE10
Our track is switching to a 17.5 stock class for SCT so I need to buy my first brushless systems for my son and I (going in rtr SC10's). Because I am buying two systems, they need to be affordable (i.e. roughly $150 each).
Based on everything I have read, we are probably going with the Trinity D3 motor and Gens Ace 5000mah 40C lipos.
I have narrowed the esc's down to the xerun 60A and the Duratrax DE10.

The biggest difference my newb eye sees is that the xerun can advance the timing to 26° where the de10 can only advance to 10°. Not sure if this makes a big difference or not.
Which one do you guys like better, and why?

I was pretty impressed by the DE10, a couple racers here have them.
The little programer will store your information on temps/rpm etc so you can review this later. The output seemed to be right up there with the MMP. For the price you cant go wrong with either.
The Xerun of course has upgradeable firmware and alot of PC programming options.
BTW nice choice on Lipo and motor, you will be very happy with either choice.

Dont know anything about the Duratrax, but Hobbywing does make excellent speedo's. They are inexpensive, but high quality, realisticaly you will be happy with either one.

I'm pretty sure 17.5 stock requires sensored motors with no timing advance on the motor or ESC. My MMP has a yellow LED that blinks to confirm there is no advance in timing within the ESC. I have a few of the Gens 5000mAh 40C batteries and so far so good, I was surprised how good they are for the money.
Good luck

I can't speak for the HW system but I have used the DE10 in both 2wd and 4wd buggy with no problems. It's almost a must to have the optional programmer though and makes things so much easier. Overall a good speed control. DE10 is only $75 at Tower right now. Not a bad deal!

I ran the DE10 all winter in 17.5 SC.
It was very stable...smooth...and super easy to setup with the programmer.
I like a piece of electronics that I servo tape into the car....and forget about it.
Really the best bang for the buck ESC out there right now for 10th scale applications.
I will be running it in open mod 2WD SC in a few weeks....I do not anticipate having any issues.
Get the Duratrax unit....you will not be dissapointed.

The Hobbywing xerun 60 amp is by far your best choice. Hobbywing has firmware that has turbo boost and with the lcd programmer it is very tunable for any class. I run one with a 10.5 in mod sc and it's as fast as other guys 7.5s and runs cool. I think hobbypartz has them for around 60 dollars. The LCD programmer was on the site for 17 dollars but they sold out.
