Hey guys,

I have a 7.4v lipo, SR3100 Receiver (capable of 9.6v) and a KO Propo PDS-2512 ICS Servo (Max 6.0v). How would you recommend I regulate the voltage to 6.0v so I don't burn out my servo? Are BEC's/Voltage Regulators the same thing? I've never had to use these before. I understand that I put it between the battery and the receiver. Also, just so I'm clear this lipo only powers the battery/servo and my 2nd lipo powers my ESC/motor, correct? I'm looking for a sub-$20 solution if possible.

Do you have an electric or nitro car ?

If you have an electric car your ESC puts out 6v to power your reciever and servo

If you are using a nitro car then you can power the reciever directly with a battery pack or external bec

Sounds like you have an electric car, if so you are likely already set. Most any car ESC has a built in BEC. Generally in the 5 to 6 volt range. The 3-wire plug to the receiver powers the receiver and then the servo.

Yes, a BEC (battery eliminator circuit) is just a RC term for a voltage regulator. Mostly for nitro with lipo receiver pack, and 1/8 electrics.
