Just to mention 2 of the top choices are Hitec and Savox. Make sure you geta servo with at least over 200oz in Tq for steering with a reasonable good speed. Check servocity.com. My personal brand, Hitec, for steering The Hitec 7955 is the best, 2 full seasons and still steering. Great servos around just take the time and read the specs.

For straight unregulated lipo a combo of Hitec 7955 or 7954 for steering and 7940 for throttle/brake cant be beat. For regulated lipo or more of a budget minded standard nimh battery that will still cirtenly hold up to race conditions the ACE 1015 for steering and 1313 for throttle/brake. Both of those brands will give you multiple seasons of running but the ace servos might need a $10 gear set if you abuse them very badly over the course of a year.

You running 1/10th or 1/8th?

8 scale buggy

I suggest going Savox. I had Hi-Tecs but blowing 1 out right after another got old quick. I used 7955's. I decided at the first of this year I would retire my ACE 1015 servos. But for the money you can't beat the Savox.

Trust me you will not be disappointed.

I like the Savox high torque I'm running for steering on my 1/8 buggy. Use an old jr high speed for throttle

wfo 05-17-2011 05:41 PM

7955 straight to lipo ,not one issue for a year now....

DPowers 05-17-2011 05:50 PM

Ace 1015 been running the same ones for 2 years and wont run nothing else tried hitec and jr went right back to ace.

bobbyc1127 05-17-2011 05:53 PM

the Hitecs are good. IF you can get them to last. Another good thing about the Savox servos is the "LOW" Voltage servos can stand up to a straight lipo connection. I am not saying to do this. But as per a team driver I was told that the high voltage and "LOW" voltage servos use the same high voltage boards, and motors. As I said I am not saying to do it. But I do know when I had my buggy I had the low voltage servos running straight lipo and used them for 6 months and they never got hot nor lost 1. so do it at your own risk.

Also this is an opinion thread as well you will hear good and bad on all brands. Important thing to consider is what your looking for. Price limit, torque/speed, metal gear vs titanium gear and so on and so forth. So don't just make your decesion from this thread if you get more votes for say JR do a little research and talk to drivers at your local track and get differing opinions and go from there.

savox or orion for me, if you decide on savox get the 1267 or 1268, very nice servos. customer support is awsome also!!!!

Frank L 05-17-2011 05:59 PM

My choice would be savox 1268 on lipo and then hitec 7954 on lipo. Both can be ran on nimh without issues. Both of those will provide you with hours of continous use without issues. If you want to spend a little more then the hitec 7950's are great too. I would use them on both throttle and steering. I always end up slowing my steering servo down anyway.

I like hitec servos. They are pretty darn good and reliable. I do how ever have to give props to KO Propo. I got a servo used and the motor went out. Sent it in to them amd there customer service is top notch and is fast. servo was sent and received back in my hands in ten days incluedind the weekend. But there spendy.

So I vote hitec!
