Default HELP...esc and motor wire colors??

ive got a question concerning the proper wireing of different esc to motor combos. I recently got a t4.1 with the stock reedy 3300kv motor in it but no esc and i have a traxxas vxl3s laying around that i think still works and was gonna try to put it in there for now just to get it going but the problem im having is that i dont really know enough about brushless systems to know what wires are supposed to do what. The reedy motor has a yellow, red, and black wire and the vxl3s has blue, yellow, and white. What goes where? and what does what? any help would be appreciated

on your vxl it will have letters, A, B, C, and on most motors they have them on the end bell, when looking at the end of it, common lettering is left to right, a,b,c, so connect according, all the A's and B's, but if their is no letters on the motors, then any order will work and if it runs backwards you can up plug 2 wires and swap them around, but DO NOT do this if it is sensored motors, they have to be in order

hope it helps

generally if the wires are soldered internally, meaning they all come out together, then any wire sequence should be fine, usually when they have letters you have to solder wires onto the motors, but should get you up and running
