Default help with wire splicing

I bought a protek battery for my mt4 at amain. I was stoked because it is 2100 mah, perfect fit and only 20$!

Lost in all of that is it has the wrong connector

so i got a jr style connector that i had laying around (to an old battery case), spliced both the lead to the transmitter and the lead to the battery. twisted them up nice and tight, shrink wraped both leads individually then put one big one over the both leads and it is very tight and works very well. I would never do this for a reciever battery because of the lack of failsafe and the turbulence of riding.

Was all this a bad idea and just toss it? i think it works fine but want another opinion so i don't blow up my mt4

I would have soldered or used a butt connector, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
