Default Balancing tabs

hi guys..

have 3 sets of Lipos, but they all comes with different bal tab. Align / thunder power / hyperion.. so as u can see my charging station is a mess with all the different adaptors.

so is it a difficult to change a TP tab to an Align tab? when i took out to take a closer look i noted the wire ends are clamped pretty tight to the connectors.. possible to ply them open?
or is it better to cut then solder them (cut up an adaptor wire..) together?

thanx

you can always buy adaptors to switch from a thunder power to make it work on say like a regular jst adaptor. Atleast thats what I did.

i have cut and resoldered wires to change to TP/FP taps. it is really a pain in the ass that there is not a standard balance plug for the manufacturers. problem is that it would have to be a worldwide decision. Venom had a smart idea with there battery plugs, where you can add an adapter for 4 different types of plugs, but they are very large and heavy.

You're better off leaving them the way they are.

If you alter the resistance of the wires in the balance wiring, balancing will be off. The resistance of the wires is part of how the charger balances the cell. I wouldn't risk changing - you're better off selling them and getting the same brand so the balance tabs are the same type.

I wish I knew where I got it (I think it came with one of the many chinese chargers i've collected over the years.) I have a small circuit board that contains a plug for any manufacturers' proprietary balance plug with one output to the charger. It has just pin spacing for each type of plug with enough pins for 6s packs.

Very handy device. If only I could remember where it came from.

I haven't seen one like that, all the boards I'm familiar with are for just one plug type - reason when I get a new charger, I go ahead and get all 4 boards so I can balance charge whatever I encounter.

That could be a handy thing to have.....

There is one other choice - you can get a cell count specific adapter to change the balance tap to the one you prefer - this would change a 2S TP lipo to a Align (or JST-XH) type balance connector -
