HiTec High Voltage Servos..

Anyone had a chance to run the new HV servos from HiTec? I'm considering trying some of the lower priced ones for throttle.. Seems like a nice option to eleminate Volt reg and get full power to steering without paying $100 for 333oz servo..

Thoughts and ideas welcome..

Their HV servos are fantastic. I run a combo of the 7954(basically a 7955 that officially runs at 7.4volts), with a few 7940's and 7945's. Rugged servo that will last. You can grab the 7954 from Tower if you buy a pair for about 80 each shipped. At 7.4 volts the rating is .12 transit time with 403oz or torque. Its not only a torque monster, but its quick too.

A few people who run the digital "sport" HV servos 5495/5496 have had good results so far for the past few months using them for SC racing.

Yeah i'd have to agree with these servo's mentioned.
I run the 7945 and it's been trouble free, highly recommend them for the price.

I'm thinking in the next month or so picking up 2 - 7954's and maybe 2 - 7940's.. Steering and throttle respectively.. But I was also considering the 5965 for throttle/brake.. What do you all thin about that?? At $55 it is sure tempting.. A bit slow at .14 @7.4 but it's about the same as what I am running now at 6.0v..

I have the 7945TH and its worth the money for sure, I just bought a 7955 and a 7940 used for an older 1/8 nitro buggy and stepped up to a 7.4V hump pack. a definate upgrade along with a 4PL with an extra Rx for my second car. The 7955 doesn't show 7.4V capable but by what I've read in forums it should be ok.

That 9380 is impressive.. But when would you ever need that much torque??

You can get the 7954's for about 80 a piece shipped from tower if you buy em in pairs with coupon code. Best bang for the buck going. I personally would stick with the 7954/7940 or 7945 combo and bypass the 5965's. Stick with HV servos in the premium lineup. ;) Those servo's will pay for themselves many times over when you find out they outlast a few of your rollers.

If you want to keep the price down instead of a 7954/7940 combo you could actually just do a pair of 7954's for both steering and throttle/brake. If your running at 7.4 volts, .12 transit time at 60 degrees is nothing to sneeze at and is quite fast. And you will never have to worry about brake fade, lol.
