Default iCharger and power supply

I want to charge 25C 4000mAh Lipo batteries at a 5C rate.

That means I need a charger capable of 20 amp charge current.

This charger can do that...

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=10382

Also, it needs a power supply that is rated above 360 Watts...

BUT, if I only plan to charge the battery mentioned above(one at a time), I will only use around 170 Watts. In other words, the charger wont be demanding more than 170 Watts. Therefore, I wont need a high watt power supply if my charger isnt demanding that much watts.

So do i need a power supply that is rated at 210 Watts? or 360 Watts?

This PS is rated at 350 Watts. Could i squeeze by with it?

Thanks for your input!

Agree, that power supply is a good match for the charger, has a good rep too.

To elaborate you are correct in thinking you could get by with about 210W for now, but with the 350W you are set for whatever you might do in the future with the charger. The slightly higher voltage compared to a typical supply is a good match for that charger too if I'm not mistaken.

If you buy your iCharger from HK, just be aware that any probs will be expensive since you have to pay to return it (and wait) and get any probs resolved. Not knowing where you're located makes this less than clear cut.

My 3010b iCharger and Powerlog were bought from Progressive RC and I know he provides top notch after the sales service for anything he sells.

I wouldn't buy one from HobbyKing in Hong Kong, either buy from Progressive RC, EPBuddy or get the same thing from AMain (the re-badged Protek chargers) and eliminate any probs with returns. With S&H, it'll be cheaper to get one from an iCharger delaler in the US.

I've read some nightmare stories on returning iChargers thru HK.

I have purchased both my Ichargers from HK, dont really see an issue with it

You can only buy Nanos from HK unless you want to pay marked up priced on ebay

Cheers
