Just realized I have a pretty good source for backlighting lcd's but instead of the el type (electro-lumeniscent) they would be edge lit led's. Installation would be even easier as I believe these run of of 5vdc so they could be directly connected to the battery supply of a dx3s,r tx and would only be slightly overdriven. No inverters or el drivers to install. I realize the lighting isn't quite as uniform as with the el type but has anyone had experience with doing this? Best thing about the whole thing is it would be free. Makes me a little nervous to break into the Spektrum but maybe after a couple beers...
