Default Traxxas Link

Hey guys, I have an issue. I got my blitz today, and threw in a castle sidewinder esc/motor, and a traxxas link radio. Well, whenever I hit the gas, it goes backwards, and whenever I hit reverse it goes forwards. So I tried reversing the throttle, and when I do that, the esc turns on, but the motor will not work (servo will though). Flip the throttle back and it works, just backwards again. What is the problem, and how can I fix it??

Swap any two wires between motor and esc

Change the motor direction using the castle software

If you change your transmitter settings you will need to re-calibrate the ESC

Cheers

Change it by swapping any two wires connecting the motor and esc. That way the esc reverse setting is truly that, reverse. Lot less confusing that way.

I meant the motor direction setting in the software mate

The Castle SCT MMP 2400 system in my car requires it to be set as reverse if I hook the motor wires up as coloured

TX throttle direction - Normal
Motor / ESC wires as coloured Red, White, Green
Motor direction in ESC - Reverse

Unless its a Spektrum thing cant imagine why

Cheers

I heard switching the motor wires around (I assume just black and red), reduces the life of your motor? Im going to pickup a castle link today though so ill try that.

That's plain silly. I've had to swap two wires an just about every brushless install I've setup to get the right direction, mine have lasted years so far and are running strong. Swapping 2 wires is covered in the Castle Driver's Ed guide as the way to reverse motor direction. I think they know what they're talking about.

I think you're maybe getting confused about sensored motors, they have to be connected A-A, B-B, C-C or red-red, white-white, black-black.
