Default traxxas 2.4 problem

So i have a traxxas 2242 model controller and a 2218 receiver i run in my blitz. Works perfectly. So i got another truck and bought another 2218 receiver for it. For some reason the brand new receiver wont link to my controller. I called traxxas and they sais the controller and receiver are not compatible which is weird because the identical receiver in my other truck works fine with it. Any ideas?

My blitz is running a castle brushless system and my slash has the stock xl5 and titan fyi.

I would return it to TRX. I have four RX's and one TX and I love the model memory. But I bought a new one once that wouldnt bind. I sent it back and the replacement worked

Pretty sure the 2242 is a single model memory and would need to be bound to the RX each time you switched cars

Not sure why your 2218 works but I'm guessing you need a 2217 for your second car

Cheers

If your radio is the gray one, it runs a single model, you'll have to rebind to move from one rc to another. The black radios have the multi model memory. This was put together by a TRX employee and posted on TRX - pretty good summary of the 2 diff systems and rcvrs -

this is weird... my controller is black!

Take this ebay ad for example, my exact controller and receiver, yet they wont bind and they were pulled from a new slash. hmmm

WTF?? Sounds like you got a bad rcvr. Try and contact the eBay seller?? Not sure if Traxxas will get involved - this may be like its 'used' to them.

Yea I agree here, I have never really had a problem with their RX, and then I opened a brand new Slash and it didn't bind lol...then I opened a brand new Summit and it worked but wasn't pre-bound.

They are usually really good about this kind of stuff.

#2242 is not a link radio...... #2238 is a link radio that can link to multiple cars

Both have black cases but the #2242 has chrome wheel and does NOT say link, #2238 has a smoked chrome wheel and says link on the radio

BTW I have a #2238/#2218 in the for sale section.........lol
