Arrow Anyone else ever have this problem???

I have 2 2s lipo batteries that have one cell at 1. something volts and the other cell is full 4.20v. Does anybody know how this could have happened and how to fix it if possible?

The ideal thing would be to charge the low/weak cell directly, but unless you have a charger that does that, prob not going to happen. Why is one cell at 4.2v? Did you try and charge them and this is what resulted? Were they charged and have been sitting for a while and this is now what you have?

Since the voltage is less than 6v, most chargers won't do anything with a lipo at this low voltage. You need to discharge the high cell and then try and charge it as a NiMh at a low rate like 200 - 300ma until total voltage is back up over 6v. Then stop and try balance charging and hope balancer will even the cells out. If you try charging in as a NiMh now, you'll overcharge the 4.2v cells and harm them.

Know anybody with a chzrger that charges thru the balance wires?

Well i used them in a race they sat for a couple weeks and when i tried to charge them it said low voltage so then i checked the cells and thats what it came up with.

Thank you for your reply

it happened to me once. mine was a 4s lipo. one reading at 0.8v the rest around 3.8. so what i did was to charge the bad cell (0.8) through the balance port. just stick a wire in there and charge it with nimh setting and very low amp until the voltage reach around 3.8v then cycle the battery like normal. seems to work fine.

in your case you may want to discharge the 4.2v cell first just to be safe.

I received a Turnigy 3S lipo that read 7.68v new out of the box. One cell was at 0.28v. I have a charger that charges only thru the balance wires and after spending about 10hrs on that charger, it got the low cell all the way back to 4.2v. Its been OK since.

All you need to do is ID which wire goes to the low cell off the balance tab and then rig something to charge it. Unfortunately, its easier said than done. If you have a male servo connector, that makes it easier.
