Old thread, but how are the calipers holding up?
A harbor freight is nearby and was going to pickup a 6" set for 20.00.
I would use them 2-3x a month.

Check Amazon. I bought a 6" for $35 and its really nice. Brand name is True Power. Read the reviews. They all seem pretty good.

I have the Kobalt from Lowes and the Harbor Freight model. They both work great. Got the Harbor Freight model for 9.99 with a coupon.

For the kind of stuff we would be measuring the $20 ones would be fine.

If you are just measuring shocks, bearings, shims, etc etc the $20 are fine. If you are measuring wire on your motor with calipers you are way out of your league.
