I am running this speed control with the 17.5 motor in a sedan. I am wanting to have more drag brake. I have the brake setting maxed on the speed controller for drag brake and it still barely even slows my car down when I let off of throttle. Is there something I am missing or is this really all this speed control offers?

Which TC spec are you running? I've only used the spx and the drag brakes have worked very well. There are 2 brake settings, automatic and initial. For drag brake, you want to set automatic.

It's the sphere tc spec. I have both of those settings maxed. I have more then enough brakes when applied manually, but almost no drag brake.

Just remember, drag breaks equal heat. The best part of on road is to learn to use brakes smooth. Biggest challenge ive had since off road.

Yes it does create heat, but whether your using drag brake, or controlling the brake manually, it would not make a difference in heat. I think at the track I run at (rcplus) it would be very difficult to be quick enough with the transition from throttle to brake and to continue to be fast. I'm not saying it can't be done, but from watching some of the fast guys, all they are using is drag brake, and are never actually using any manual brakes. I could see using brakes on a larger track.

True, but you have more control of the brakes (How and were the heat is applied.) For RCP I can see drag brakes being easier, but big outdoor tracks have small in fields, and even with 4.5's very few of us run drag brakes. If you need more drag, ask Ron if you can step up in rotor size. Some tracks don't care, and bigger rotors cause more natural (heat free) drag brake .

Are you setting the automatic brake setting (YEL/RED same time). Initial brake is the manual TX brake. I run a very small track and have it all the way at 6, and it works well-enough. I would recalibrate it to the radio, and make sure all the eps'a are @ 100*
