[QUOTE=nikos2002;12377081]1/8 motors? We're doing a 1/8 motor? Haven't heard about it ? :sneaky::sneaky:......... We are getting closer. I don't want to put a date on anything until I see the shipping docs. I did see the box art!!

Can't wait for the 1/8 motors! ;)

As a point of reference for those with Copperhead who experience this. If your vehicle shuts off and still has steering one of 2 things has happen.

1) you hit a thermal cutoff. Something registered a temperature high enough to shut the system off. This can come from running to long, being over geared or even a jolt that causes an arc between the bullet connectors on the motor/esc connection.

2) you hit low voltage cut off. This occurs when the motor's amp draw spikes very high and lowers the batteries voltage. Some batteries are able to handle this spike. Others can drop really quickly below LVC which causes a cut off. Can this happen on new batteries- yes, it depends on the quality (not price) of the cells in question. These spikes can occur from pulling throttle very fast, landing a jump, a crash when on throttle.

Can this happen every run? Yes, if the same factors are in place it can happen over and over. So if it ever does happen. Check your settings. Lower Punch, Start Power and Forward power can lessen that voltage spike. Try a different battery. Check your bullet connectors (tight and no black marks - from the arc).

These questions seem to come up from time to time so I figured I would post some info we see.

could it also be a bec problem.if there hiiting a tire off the pipe maybe it's puting a load on it kinda like a brown out situation.so far I haven't had any issues and I'm running a savox 1267 servo.

I also have this question.

I have. ProGauge from when Viper was new on the scene. Will it work with the new 1/8 ESC?

Thanks

We need to know what u r putting it in?

Sorry Jamie James, I'm not familiar at all with the Copperheads.

Folks, I run on a pretty tight outdoor track where pop between the hairpins is a priority. The blue groove is starting to build and I'd like to get a bit more stump pulling power out of the 8.5 turn VTX10 in my SC10. Currently I'm at the stock motor timing and I'm running no boost. Any suggestions on how to start moving in the right direction? Drop the timing a bit and dial up some boost? How much and what settings?

nikos2002 07-25-2013 11:25 AM

bds - lower motor timing some will give it little extra bottom end. Also lowering Throttle PWM slightly. 1 or 2 teeth lower in gear will help as well. Believe it or not, you can also try some different chassis settings to help get more forward traction, as this will help put the power to the ground.

Jamie - yes the ProGauge (and EZ Link) will work with all current Viper speed controls. On the Caster forum PM "bring it on" (Rick Jenkins) he developed the Caster 4wd SC using Viper electronics. Sure he would be able to make lots of suggestions!!!

xxxn- yes, bec is at times an item that fails, but generally not causing the unit to go into the "reset" that some encounter.

[QUOTE=nikos2002;12376373]ridgerunner - looked at your motor today - you spun the rotor, it was fighting though, didn't want to let go. It will probably ship out tomorrow, you should see it by Friday.

Got my motor today nice living close, got it put back in and my o my this one runs better then the first one niceee I'm think the first one was a little weak from the start. Thanks viper team for a fast turnaround. :D

I see the new motors on neobuggy. http://www.neobuggy.net/2013/07/26/n...ushless-motor/
I have 2 questions. How much $$$ and how much do they weigh.

Told you guys we would tell ya :sneaky:

H0LESH0T 07-26-2013 02:14 PM

Will you be doing a combo to with the VTX8?

bds81175 07-26-2013 03:55 PM

Love my Tekin Pro4 4000kV in my SCTE but I think my VTX8 would be happier with an "orange" motor. I guess I can pretend that they are orange.

Genebaby 07-26-2013 03:55 PM

Nice, ill get one of these when I need to replace a motor.

H0LESH0T 07-26-2013 04:31 PM

Think it is great that they are full black. Orange endbell may have been ok but really liking the full black - stealth :batman:
