Must say that I'm very pleased with my Viper Product, I run the VX4R.51 in my Losi SCTE 4x4 and i just picked up the Viper 17.5T and VTX10 esc to put in my T4.1 Stadium Truck. Is there any way to find out Info on how to become a Team Driver for Viper RC?

You can send your resume to Viper, or to me and I can pass it on to the team manager for the east coast.

I can honestly say I've given the Viper copperhead system, a fair try, When i first got the system I installed it per the instructions in my scrt10. It made 3 1/2 laps and the rotor spun loose from the shaft... things happen, so i sent it back to Viper under warranty, and about 2 weeks later i got it back. Installed it back in the truck and went to the track to try it out today. ran 1 pack through it checking temps several times, never ran above 140. Truck ran good but seemed down on power. geared 13 tooth pinion. thought i would hook up the ProGuage and check the settings, I was running profile 5 with power set at 5 timing set at 6 ect. tried hooking the Proguage up and it didn't want to connect. after trying about 30 or 40 times it finally connected. and said all my settings were at 255.... WTF? brake, timing, throttle, all of it.... something must be goofed up. reboot.... will not reconnect with ProGuage, reset throttle cal for the hundredth time. when it runs something is REALLY WRONG!!!!

At this point I couldn't recommend this to my competition because it wouldn't be a fair race.... IT DON"T WORK. It has never worked. And now i get to send it back in WAIT another 2 weeks, miss another race, and pray the next one isn't a P.O.S.

IT will be for sale when i get it back, I now know why people spend more money on Castle or Tiken.... Because they WORK!!!

Hell even my Hobbywing 1/8 scale system works Great.

merkur- sorry to hear you have had any trouble- let alone twice. I would love to say Faliure is not an option, but the reality of it - it can happen. That's why we replace them if it does (and we have some of the best turn around times in the industry).

On to the real issue- I am guess that the error was that it now has all your setting levels at 5 (didn't understand the '255'). What is goofed up? Motor doesn't run, it's slow or sluggish? The recalibration will not effect the settings on the esc.

Contact us to let us see what's going on before you send it back. You can only figure out so much threw a forum.

merkur 06-11-2012 05:38 AM

No, The settings are at 255 not 1 thru 10 like a person would expect..... They were adjustable too..... changed one setting to 238.... motor does run... sounds like it's grinding coffee beans. With the battery unplugged, everything turns very nice. Its like the speed control moves the motor forward one step and then gives full brake, forward one step, brake etc. at a very high rate.... During the whole time, 6 guys standing around asking if I'm sure i know how to use this thing, and commenting on how well it works... Good value for the money.

I've been in this hobby for over 20 years, have everything from 1/5 scale brushless to 1/16th scale... If you ask me the firmware is corrupted in this thing...

nikos2002 06-11-2012 02:03 PM

yeah, something strange has happened there because there shouldn't be any setting like that on the Copperhead series products, not even if you were testing PPM would that kind of value come up. I would definitely start the process to send it back to us. Contact us at the 800 number (ok, its an 866 number). If you have more questions.

Sorry to hear this happen. Sounds like the first was with the rotor was one that sneaked out after release, we had recalled them, but not every hobby shop or distributor returned them. But we got it replaced and we will do the same here.

I have had nothing but positive results since switching to Viper ESCs.
