Before you toss the motor, try this setup http://viper-rc.com/forums/index.php...91.0;attach=63.

It makes a fairly smooth transition from boost to top speed timing. If you're still getting lag then you may have an issue with the motor. I've shown a couple of my VST's 200+ degrees (my bad), they're still running well, just replaced the rotors. Let me know how it works out.

Okay thanks man I'll give it a shot
But it's not so much lag , it's like the motor is struggling to dish out the power that the esc is giving. At full throttle the motor was erratic .
Its like trying to spray the final bits of paint out of a spray paint can

I tried the setup you recommended and I had the same problem!
I would get a new rotor and try but viper doesn't have an Australian distributor and for the price of shipping and the rotor I might as well buy a whole new motor of a different brand from my L.H.S

I have been having a look at the 17.5 Viper VST. Would you Guys recommend it?
If not what motor would you recommend in that price range?

the vst motors are very good and extremely smooth, I would recommend them . Other wise, all 540 brushless motors of a competitive brand are all roughly the same price, it comes down to user choice and driving style . But people generally go for the smoothest motors they can find , smoother = faster
Viper is excellent but any other motor made my a good brand is also good. Like I said it comes down to user preference .
Good luck!!

You think it is the motor ? Should I get a new one?
And if I do get a new motor , can it be any brand?
If you over heated the motor once..most likely it damaged the rotor. Did you smell any burning scent when you took the car off the track? You will most likely need a new rotor unfortunately .

I have had motor issues before and I was told that the motor will die eventually if you have burnt it...

So is the motor fried? And if it is the Esc, how would I tell if it is?
Just bought a new motor(Lrp x12) , wired it all up , tested it and I'm still having this problem .
My gear ratio is 6.11
Could it be the battery?
I'm using the gold trakpower 4900 , I'm pretty sure it's like 4 years old cause I got it at the same time I got my cyclone tc.
The problem is that I don't have another newish battery to try it with. I have a trakpower 4800 saddle pack but that is also 4 years old.

Hi, have you changed your motor sensor wire, as it sounds like a sensor is misreading.

New Black Edition VST motor testing!!! This motor looks promising and it has so much power. I took it apart to show you guys the details that Viper has put into this motor

The integrated cooling fan gives you the option to cool the motor 20-30* more
