I just got my 1258TG in the mail today (along with a free t-shirt). Can't wait to try it out, hopefully it isn't TOO fast for me! I guess I could have waited a couple days and gotten it for $48, but oh well, it's still a deal even if you pay full price for it.

Sonofa....I tried this code a couple days ago.

Just ordered one from TC models for $55. Heard they suck about canceling orders. Oh well after shipping it is only a few bucks more.

So I am thinking about trying these servo's out but am alittle reluctant. I am a futaba guy and my servo's are nice and quite. I was thinking about the sc-1258tg and the sc-1251mg. Kind of scared to make the switch but they are alot lighter than my futaba's and alot cheaper. I dont want a noisy servo that is fighting itself all the time. Anyone got some hd vid of the servos in car? Thanks

They are noisy, but I don't believe they have any centering issues.

Don't know if it helps, but I recently got a Spektrum H6040, which is a rebadged Savox 1258... I had a cheap AE RTR servo on g/b in my DM-1, but it was way too slow for me. The new Spektrum servo is wicked fast..

AE S2008(stock SC8 steering servo):

With the new Spektrum:

What I would like to know is why it says on amain that the 1258 shouldn't be used for 1/8 offroad...

Its Torque rating is a bit low. It might work as a throttle servo but in steering 160oz isnt enough. Hence why they say 1/10 scale.

Herrsavage 02-19-2011 01:38 PM

Is that really so?

I remember back in the day with my Savage, the rule of thumb was, you needed minimum ten kg. Later, I had a Muggy(heavy truck with MT tires..), and put a Hitec 5625 on steering, which only has ten kg, and it worked great.. This Savox has 13 kilos, and can't work on steering for a buggy? Does a buggy really need a 20 kg steering servo?

No, I used the hitec hs625mg for steering for years in a ofna lx1 pro buggy. And that buggy was on the heavy side. Some people think you need 200oz's of torque for steering I think 160 is more then enough. In my 808 I was using the 5625 for steering,but want to switch because I feel the quality of hitec has gone down the crapper.
