Im going to use a hv servo and was wanting to know if the power cap can be removed from a sphere esc? Is it only for the bec or does it effect the motor output part of the controller?

Generally speaking, the external (or internal) power capacitors are an integral part of the esc design; you must replace this cap for your controller to function correctly:
