Default Chargers, Would This Work?

Looking for a charger to charge my Team Orion Lipo 45c packs

Would this work

Hyperion EOS 0720i NET3-AD Li/NiMH/A123 Balancing AC/DC Charger (7S/20A/150W)
[HP-EOS720IAD]

or am i better off getting this DC only charger with a power supply?

Team Orion Advantage Race Spec LiPo/Life/NiMH DC Battery Charger (4S/10A/180W)

If you're still onlyinerested in 2S, then the Hyperion has enough power running on AC to charge them. The Hyperion specs on AC are -

100V~240V AC (20A, 90W max charge).

Your 2S lipo require 42watts if I remember correctly that they're 5000mah 2S lipos. If they are 2C charge rated, you'd be able to charge them at 2C and cut charging time.

The Team Orion would obviously work too, it has to have a separate power supply and once that cost is added to th epicture, these are not that diff proce wise. If you got the Protek Pro 20 power supply that'd add $65 and make this option a wash price wise compared to the Hyperion.

The 5600mahs would still be chargeable with the Hyperion, they'd need 47watts at a 1C charge rate well within the 90watts available on AC input power.

The AC/DC Hyperion would let you haul one less piece of equip.

I guess you have to decide if traveling light is worth more to you than the benefits of a DC charger and separate power supply. In the end most people that stick with this hobby end up going the DC charger route. You get a more powerful charger and have a power supply that will last you from charger to charger or will allow you to run multiple chargers. I've been using the same 30 amp Rivergate power supply for over 10 years.

Best deal going right now on a DC charger is the Hyperion 720i Net 3 at allerc for $130:

If you decide to go the AC route then they have the AC/DC Hyperion for $160.

I guess they (spammers) think they can sneak in under cover like this......

0720 is out of stock and with the new models impending (think I've seen Nov now for delivery), they may not come back in stock. Hyperion dealers put old stock on sale in front of the new chargers arrival so there are some good deals available. One of my 0610iNet chargers was bought in a sale like this.
