Input lag? Tekin vs. LRP

Input lag? Tekin vs. LRP
Hey everybody. I have 3 cars with Tekin RS and RS Pro ESCs. I run a Futaba 3PM with HRS active. Throttle inputs on all of my cars feels the same. I pull the trigger and the car(s) respond as expected, but I drove a friends car today with an SXX speedo and the throttle inputs felt much more direct, almost instantaneous. He also uses Spektrum gear (DX3?).
Is it the speedo that causes this lag? Has anybody else that runs or has run Tekin gear noticed this?
Thanks,
Lamar

I've set it to 10 on all of my ESCs. The delay is felt all throughout the powerband, not just from a complete stop. Mid corner adjustments, drifting, etc. all felt better with his LRP. Because of the lag it's almost as if I have to drive ahead of the car with my Tekin gear (if that makes any sense).

I noticed a huge difference in feel between my m11 and my DX3R, the dx3r with the matching dsm2 receiver almost made my ride feel twitchy it was so instantaneous, so that could be the difference if the remote was a dx3r. This was both using Tekin rs with deadband at 15, if your feeling it everywhere in the powerband the dead band setting wont help anything.

With my 3pm and speed passion I have to set a little bit of reverse trim because it's so sensitive. Sometimes the trigger doesn't land exactly on neutral (crap radio) and my motor is whining a little bit.
You can try setting your throttle trim as far forward as you can without the car starting to move. That should help it be more instantaneous from when you pull the trigger.

From being sponsored for years by radio companies,Futaba,
Airtronics,KO & Multiplex.. I can tell you the response time
from radio company to radio company & radio model to
radio model is very big. Airtronics is by far the smoothest
built radios on the market from the early 80's to date. You
can call them slow if you like. I call them smooth. Futaba
is a little quicker. I call touchy. KO very close to Futaba IMO.
Multiplex is so dam fast you better not be making any
driving mistakes at all because it will bite you in the azz in
a blink. Multiplex is blistering/lightening fast, way faster
then you can think IMO.
Some Futaba models are quicker then others some
Airtronics models are faster then others, some KO models
are faster then others. Multiplex is blistering no matter
what model you have, they are just insanely stupid fast
IMO.
I have no track time on Spectrum radios at all because
I feel from what I see at tracks they have very bad
quality control issues.. I would never run Spectrum
radios if they gave them to me..But thats just my
opinion..
I feel you are feeling more the radio response then the
speed control response between the two cars your
driving.
You could also have a problem like this: Your buddies
motor has (NEVER) ran even slightly warm & yours has
been run hot a few times. So now your magnets your
weak & your motor feels very lazy through the whole
power band. Even one time running your brushless
motor hot cause's the motor to respond lazier then
before you ran it hot. If you run it hot twice your in
big trouble because the response of the brushless
motor goes in the toilet very quick. Your motor will
get lazier & lazier every run after that in a hurry in
some cases.
You could swap motors with your buddy & see if the
problem swaps cars. At that point you will at least
know it's not your motor. You could also then swap
your buddies radio to your car & yours to his, if your
problems switches to his car you know it's your radio.
PS: Back when I drove for Multiplex I could let other
racers drive my cars & most could not even get them
around the track the response was just way to fast
for them. Most had no idea there was faster radios
out there til they drove mine. I'm running Airtronics
now because I'm to old to deal with Multiplex's
blistering speed. Radios are all different & everyone
needs to find the one that suits their driving style IMO.
Good Luck & Enjoy your R/C racing

It's not a motor issue as 3 different R/Cs feel similar, and this was the first time out for my Durango.
Is there a difference in response time within a radio brand? Will a 4PK be faster than my 3PM? I've had it for at least 4 years, and have been thinking about upgrading, but I have 4 or 5 receivers as well.

what I posted & you must have over looked.

To answer your new question: Yes theres a difference
between the 4PK & 3PM you will have to try both to
find out what you like. Or the simple thing to do is
buy the same radio as your buddies using because you
seem to love it"
Good Luck & Enjoy your R/C racing...

It doesn't matter if the car is moving or not. With a high deadband (to me, anything over 3 on a tekin), the sc will do nothing until you pull the trigger a certain distance. Now, if you come out of the corner and just yank a fist full of throttle, that wont matter but if you are rolling into the gas, there is your problem.

I think you guys are talking about two different thing. The OP seems to be talking more about the "feel" of the LRP ESC. I have both brand ESC's and they definitely feel different. But there is just too many variable here. You can definitely set your Tekins to feel like an LRP if you want, but it won't ever be an LRP. On the other hand, you can't set your LRP to feel like a tekin.
If you want to know for sure, see if your buddy will let you borrow his ESC. Then you can decide.

i had both, I think the tekin feels better, Smoother, faster, and more tunablitiy.
