reason for asking i have some li.soci2 cells are size aa and 2500 mah the problem is they are 3.6v each cell so to put 8 of them in a 3pk might be a little silly but i tested them in an acoms 2.4 controller it worked fine but hummed not sure if it did before any way i want to put them to good use but am too scared to fry my 3pk any other suggestions what i can use them for seems a shame to waste

Wow, 8 of those would be 28.8v! I bet it hummed, lol! You're lucky you didn't fry it!
Don't see any way its safe to use those in a 3PK, 3 cells would be too few )(low voltage) and 4 is too much voltage again - even if you wanted to wire them special.

just connect 3 in series to get 10.8V 2500mah battery pack... or get creative and connect six in a 3S 3P to get 10.8V 5000mah pack
... 10.8V is close to the stock 9.6V pack the 3pk comes with so it will be able to handle it without any problems.
imagine a 5000mah tx pack... you'll only need to charge once a year!!
