Lipo Storage Question
#1
Hey Guys,
Whats the best way to store Lipos? I've got a good metal box that I plan putting them in, inside the Lipo Safe Bag and I'm thinking of lining the box with sand.
What is a good temperature to store them at as well?
Thanks

Yeah I'm thinking about getting an army ammo box, lining it with sand, putting the lipos in the lipo safe bag and putting the ammo box in the refrigerator with it set to minimal cooling so it stays around 45 deg F.
Hopefully that will keep them safe and make them last a long time!
Thanks

Thats crazy- a Lipo sack AND a Metal Box- come on...
You guys realise that every new Mobilephone has Lipos? - well the most, some got LiIon too.
Do you put your Mobile in a Liposack every time after a call? come on...
Just take proper care like racer said and its good, those things arent THAT fragile!

Currently I have my two Lipos in the garage, in a LipoSafe sack in the mini refrigerator with it set so it should be around 45 degrees F. Hopefully that will keep them cool and safe.
I haven't charged the Lipo's yet, haven't read the manual on how to do it yet. Should I go ahead and charge them to 40% and then stick them back in the refrigerator?
Thank you for all your advice, I truly do appreciate it!
Thanks

this isn't very hard to grasp the difference between the consumer grade lipo's in laptops and mobile phones, and the 'most power as cheaply as possible' lipo's used for r/c.

the lipo in my mobilephone has a built in safety circuit where as the lipo's in my lipo sack inside of the ammo box does not have a safety circuit.

My other rule is, if it makes me sleep easier at night knowing they are in the metal case, then its worth the investment.
In a screwed up way its a lot like insurance for your home or car, you don't plan on needing it but it might just be thing you have some day.

Not sure I'd consider the 50cal can to be the holy grail of storage solutions -

Its getting lost in the discussion, but most lipo probs occur when they are being improperly charged. As long as you're not mixing damaged lipos from a crash, lipos sitting in storage don't pose much of a danger.

Thanks for pointing that out Duster, because that would make much more sense to me, I had to admit I was troubled when I read, which I'm now guessing I didn't, that if you didn't store Lipos correctly they could still ignite, which didn't make much sense to me at the time, but I wasn't about to test that theory out either!

Huh . . . I swear I read somewhere in the 100s of pages I gone to in the last few days that if you didn't store the Lipos right they could explode . . . . maybe I crossed that with charging somehow.
