I have a whole slew of questions. i have a mix of some old school gear and how to use it to ease my re-entry into this awesome hobby!

OK i have a EZ run brushless motor. It says 6560 kv on the can. What would that be equivalent to in a brushed motor in turns? Is there a way to use a multimeter to make sure that it is functioning? i cannot simply plug it into a speed controller because i don't have a brushless esc yet. I'm a little bit scared to buy a esc and just plug it in. i'm scared to plug in a used motor and possibly fry a new esc. assuming that the motor works how should i gear it for an hpi blitz?

I also have a dynamite mega 1 charger that is the old school dial timer style. I need to figure out a way to use a multi meter to ensure that my batteries are charging to capacity, how do i go about doing that? i have a 2100 and 4500 mah battery.

of course lipo brushless and nice charger are in the works but i need to get in little by little, charger then brushless, then batteries, i just need to know how to make what i have work for now.

Needs a lot of attention, but…. While charging, put a Voltage meter on the pack. The Voltage will rise as it charges. As it finishes charging the Voltage will level off then start to go down. This is the Delta Peak that a modern peak charger looks for. For a nimh battery stop when the pack has dropped by 3 to 5mV per cell or so. Or in practical terms just stop as soon as you see a drop. Also the battery should get warm, not too hot to hold, but noticeably warm, perhaps 120F or so. If they are older unused for a while batteries they may take some cycling to get whatever you can out of them.
