Default Team Checkpoint Soldering Station problem

I have had the TC-950 for about three months now and it has been working great up until this past weekend. I am having trouble with the knob used to change temperatures. If I set it at 500 for example then turn it up to 600 it shuts off. I had the iron set to 650 and was having a really hard time getting my solder to flow, i used my temp gun to check the tips temp and it said it was only 256*. If i play around long enough with the knob I am able to solder with it but I really have no idea what the temp is. Is there anything i can do to fix this issue? Thanks
