Don't skimp or be tight on budget when buying a charger that needs to go up to 6S. Seriously. You will go through many many cars and trucks, before you ever need to change chargers. So buy once instead of continuously "upgrading" as you get a feel for your charging needs. THIS charger is the last charger you will buy for a long time and will hold great resale value throughout it's life.

Another thing to consider is support. Make sure the charger you get has good manufacturing support. Hobby King makes a cheaper charger capable of charging up to 6S, but I have no experience with them.

The trouble with chargeing a 6S lipo with significant capacity with a 50watt charger like the Thunder AC-6 is time. For a 6S, charge current will be limited to 50watts/25.2v = ~2amps. This reduced charge current (which is typical for pretty much any charger when your charge exceeds the charger's output power) will increase charge times unless capacity is small and the 1C rate is about what the current is limited to. If you were tyrying to charge a 5000mah 6S, teh lower charge current would take over twice a long to complete a charge. It your 6S lipos is 2000 or less, it will take what most lipos take to charge, about an hour depending on how discharged it is to start with.

A dual charger is nice if you need that capability, but most don't and use a siongle channel type charger. The resale on the DUO will drop when the new SuperDUO hits the market just like I've seen my 0610iNet chargers value drop as the 0720iNet came out and the new 1420iNet due out sometime in July. Resale is a minor factor in buying a charger, to me its all about functionality and the ability of the charger to meet your charging needs.

You're kind of stuck in that you want a cheap charger, but need to charge high cell counts. Those needs don't go together well, any charger, especially a cheap charger toward at bottom of the price range is going to be a compromise and the cheaper it is, the bigger the compromise.

If you would specify what capacity (mah) your 6S lipos are and if you want to charger at higher than 1C (capacity(mah)/1000 = 1C) charge rates, it would help narrow down options. Do you want AC/DC or does it matter?

Reviews for that charger are very mixed. I would beware. Spend at least $100. You also haven't answered other posters questions about the pack size you are charging. This is very important. Also you need to know that that charger you linked will need a power supply to run it. Most of them do. Do you already own a power supply? How big is that?

I bought a GT Power A-6-10 right before last XMas and its been a solid charger for me. I routinely charge the pair of 2S 5000mah Neus I run in my Flux at 10amps with them in parallel. My mrevo 3S lipos are also charged in parallel on the GT Power charger at 2C. I've not had any problems. I paid $80 for mine and I'm not sure wha tthe diff is in the one HC/HK is selling now for only $50. Obviously, there has to be some diff.


The 6S 5000MAH lipo takes 25.2v x 5amps = 126watts for a 1C charge. Your power supply can run a charger that has 265watt power output at max charger power output (this allows for a 20% charger inefficiency). The Hyperion 0720iNet3 with its 250watts and 20amp max charge would be well suited as would the iCharger 106B, but this charger only has a 10amp max charge rate.

which icharger would you recommend

Personally, I'm buying a 3010B cause I will be using the power. I will run it at 500watts until (or if) I need more power. I already have a 500+ watt power supply. I want to charge a pair of 4S lipos in parallel at at close to 3C. Since mine are 5000mah, it will be right at 500watts.


Any of the iCharger lineup are good chargers, they offer a range of charger output power and it depends on what kind of power you need for the charging you want/need to do.

I have a Thunder AC6 and like it a lot. That being said, if I ran 1/8 scale with 6S lipos I would spring for a better charger, I don't think I would want to wait for it to charge a monster battery like that, even though its rated for it.
