brushless motor?
i run a 5000 mah 2cell lipo with a losi 6400 kv motor how hot do brushless motors get
|
well anyways mine is real hot to touch after ten minute runs is that normal
|
6400kv is a pretty "hot motor" no pun intended. Motors with that high of a kv may not like to run that long before getting hot. Gearing is the key, and you really should use a temp guage to check the temp on the motor. "hot to the touch" really doesn't work with BL motors as they have a fine line between running all day and going poof from heat. Depending on the brand 170 deg is safe. at that temp you can't really tell by touching it....

well i run nitro so i have my temp gun. whats a safe run temp? the guy i got it from went on the computer with me and set it up for it is in sport with reverse its the wifes what a safe and unsafe temp just a genral rule before i can go to the track and get all the little questions answered and some hand on demo
and its in a slash it is a losi brushless think exelerion is how u spell it not shure |
The Losi site should tell you what they recommend for temp on their stuff. Every Man. has a different "safe" temp. I know Novak says 165 for theirs and Castle says 200deg for theirs so there isn't really a genereal safe temp. but they all seem to be safe at 170 deg and below. I've seen Losi stuff run and they "live" at the 170deg mark. Like I said before when you run motors that are that "hot" you won't always be able to run them for long periods of time without a break... a 17.5 BL motor can run all day but my 5.5 stuff is meant for racing...<8-10 min... there are a ton of factors that can play into the run times with hotter motors.....
