Default lrp super reverse ESC

Hey guys. I have a car that i am looking to get back in the dirt here soon and have an lrp super reverse esc that i am going to put in it with a brushed motor. I am also looking to run lipo. i pulled up the specs on the web for it and it says it is good with 4-7 cell packs, but nothing specifically about lipo. think i can run a 2s 30c or 2s 25c pack through it without killing it or should i really wait until i can outfit the car with a brushless system?

The lipo won't put out any more voltage than the 7-cell that's your speedo's rated for so you'll be fine. You'll want to monitor run times carefully, though, unless you add an external Low Voltage Cutoff to protect the lipo battery

lrp says specifically that lipos are not compatible with the rx. but i bet that is to protect them in the case of someone smoking the esc and it turns out the culprit was a lipo battery. I have been running the traxxas stock esc for a while now on lipo and it has no cutoff and i have had no trouble with the packs. i should probably get the novak external cutoff but it is $35 and it may be better to just save the $$ to get another BL combo.. what to do... thanks for your input.
