Gel Cell charging
#1
Im sure this has been asked hundreds of times-
best way to charge a gel cell?
I have an Ice charger and a checkpoint charger, can either one of these charge a Gel Cell battery?
I also have this charger:http://store.schumachermart.com/sc-600a.html
would any of these work?

With either Ice or TC1030 chargers, you'd have to fool them into charging your gel cell. I don't like doing that kind of thing. I've seen these charged at up to 2amps, but they don't seem to last long at those kinds of charge rates. I wouldn't charge at more than 1amp and recommemd something in the 600-750ma range. The Hobbico wall charger that came with my 1st is a 600ma charger.
I personally use a float type charger on my starter box batts and literally leave it on teh battery if I'm not using it. It charges at 750ma when the gel cell needs charging and is in a maintenance mode at all other times. Battery is always at its optimum and ready to go. All I have to do is remember to hook it up when I bring it home.

I use a "Battery Tender" type charger for my motorcycle, and just leave it plugged in all the time when I get home. It will peak the battery then just maintain a charge in it, not over charge it.
This is the one I use in my Ofna box, it even has a two pin plug on it and one to put on your bike (I bought another and put it on my box, I dont even have to take the over off to charge it now)
