Default Difference in Futaba Receivers

I have a Futaba 4PK and need another receiver for a short course truck and a 1/10 electric truck. I believe I can get away with just using 3 channel receivers. What is the difference between the Futaba 603FF and the 603FS? Thanks.

603FS is a dual antenna setup (one internal to the Rx, one external wire style). The 603FF is a single antenna (external wire style).

603FS also auto detects which tx mode is active - HRS or PPM -

A gotcha with the R603FS vs the R604FS...you have to change the RXSYS in your 4PK menu:

There are two types of Futaba 2.4GHz receivers for cars depending on the system differences:
C1 type and C2 type. The R603FS and 603FF are C1 type and the R604FS
supplied with the 4PK set as standard is C2 type. For the R603FS and 603FF, set RX
TYPE to "FASST-C1" and for the R604FS, set RX TYPE to "FASST-C2".
So when you want to run your model with the R604FS, set to C2 and power cycle the 4PK. When you want to run the models with R603FS, set to C1 and power cycle the 4PK. Kind of annoying. Makes me want to either trade my 603's for 604's, or my 604 for a 603.

You do only have to bind each RX once though.

I ended up actually getting 4 of the 604FS receivers. I got a great deal on them even though I don't need the 4th channel for any one of them

thts what i was thinking about doing... its hard, but you can find some places or people selling them and the differnce in prices between the ff and fs isnt much.. so this makes me go with the fs

i have found some 603fs for 78 a piece ... so i bought those. i wouldnt mind a few 604`s though.

where did you get yours from?

I attempted range testing the R603FF and R603FS and couldn't get either out of range while still in sight, that's with the antenna coiled up. However with the price difference so small it seems to make sense to go for the FS, the FS also has better plating on the terminal pins.

Ok I didnt think there was that big of a difference between the two; however I think glitching and loss of signal is where the dual antenna might be a little more effective. I use to do a lot of high speed runs and ocassionally the cars would loose signal or glitch and the dual antenna might give a secondary source or option.... I will say that I was using FM and Spektrum DSM1 Technology at the time not Futaba.

Either way, with such a small price difference it only makes since to get the dual antenna.

I just recently noticed that Tower dropped the price of them to $99 each. I ended up buying 3 of them and with my club special pricing I ended up paying $80 each shipped

Tower is over-priced. You can get the 603FF at A Main for $75 and the FS for $90 both with free shipping. Even 6 months ago when I got my second FF, I only paid $80 for it.

The price I mentioned was for the 604FS. That's the receiver I bought for my 4pk. I did not get any 603FS.

sounds like a-main is overpriced to me.

smoothie was talking about 4 channel. if you by two at a time, Tower gives you another discount.
