Questions?? Looking for 2.4ghz Radio

I was wondering what anyone would suggest. I want to upgrade to 2.4ghz radio and I was thinking something with atleast 3 model memory, but I do like room for my growing collection. I was looking at the Spektrum DX3 because it is a reasonable price on ebay (about $100). If there are other radios out there that are comparable feel free for suggestions.

Also what are the limitations, I think I remember my friend telling me that you need to keep the Tx and Rx the same brand. Can you use any brand servos with them?

Thanks in advance,
Kyle

usually servos work with any brand but they may work in the opposite direction. in 2.4ghz it is a must to keep the rx and tx same brand.

Futaba 3PM-MX. You can get one off towerhobbies for around 170. It's argueably the most versatile radio on the market. I use it for 1/8th scale racing. It is designed to do everything from racing to crawling. 10 model memory if I remeber correctly. Never had a range issue or a glitch from it. I personally like the feel of the DX3R, but my radio is just as fast, plenty of features, and costs 1/2 the price. I would not buy one of the cheaper 2.4 systems, you'll outgrow it in time.

I just ordered the Futaba 3pm-x and a second rx last week from A Main Hobbies...paid $230 shipped (found a $25.00 coupon on line ). Can't wait to try it out (should be here before the weekend I hope) since it was one of the radios that were recommended to me numerous times.

IMHO I would stay clear of Spectrum. I had a DX3.0 and had nothing but problems (signal loss, crapped customer service, etc).

I've found the KO Propo EX-5UR to be far superior to the DX series Spektrums.

A lot of the guys at the track are using the new econo Futaba 2.4's.

Ajb1205, how are you liking the MX? I still think it is the best value out there. I wish Futaba would make a drop down wheel adapter for it, that's my only gripe.
