Default Slash Electronics Problem

I just got a Slash with no receiver or radio, so I took the receiver and radio out of my rustler in hopes to check out the Slash until the new radio shows up. But now its having a problem where it will not turn on correctly. If I press the button on the esc it will turn green, but right when I let up on the button it turns off. If I hold the button to try to reprogram it, the light will just stay red, instead of flashing red once to set it up. Why would this be? I charged the batteries so its not dead.

I just tried switching the receiver back into my rustler, now it wont work. I can turn it on and the esc light shows green, but nothing works. If I try to reprogram, the light just stay red like the xl-5 on the slash did. Could switching them somehow made the crystals or receiver its self go bad?

Does your steering work? Make certain you plugged the ESC lead into the proper place on the receiver and with the wires in the correct position.

No steering either. Steering wire is in the bottom channel 1 and esc is in channel 2.

You mentioned crystals, so I'm guessing that you don't have a 2.4ghz radio system. Have you tried reseating your crystals?

Actually from what you said in your first post it sounds possible that the XL-5 in the slash might have issues, and could have damaged the receiver.

Did you MAKE SURE that you had the ESC plug to the receiver turned the right way? If that's the only radio that you have it might be a good idea for you to get AT LEAST another compatible receiver and a new set of crystals for testing. Should be able to get a used one off here/eBay/craiglist pretty cheap.
