Default Blue 5000mAh 2s 20c review

I thought i would do a little first impression review as i am bored at the moment and i want to start doing reviews. I ordered 8 5000mAh 2s 20c Blue lipo's from www.hobbypartz.com on 03/22/2010 and got them today at 03/26/2010. I really like fast shipping so this is a major plus to me that i didn't have to wait 3 weeks for my batteries and i only paid $4.95 for shipping instead of $30+ form www.hobbyking.com.

The batteries that i am reviewing are found at http://www.hobbypartz.com/83p-5000mah-2s1p-74-20c.html

Packaging: 5/5
Packaging was good but could have been a bit better. Each individual battery came wrapped in bubble wrap and had an anti static bag over the bubble wrap. the box was lined with more bubble wrap but i would have preferred it to have the air bags on the bottom and top of the box but this is a minor issue that is just me being paranoid about them getting any sort of damage (which they did not at all).

Condition: 5/5
They came in great condition both visually and functionally. All batteries came balanced at 3.3 each cell on all 8!! I am very impressed with the condition that they have arrived in both visually and that none of them were dead.

Overall first impression: 10/10
I have to say that i am impressed that i none of the packs were dead as that is one of the issues with doing a big order of the cheaper branded lipo batteries. I have not been able to test them yet as I do not have the connectors for my trucks and we do not have the truck we will be running them in yet but i will update this review once we receive the truck and test them out.

I got time to test these batteries in 2 different setup's. My HPI blitz with a Velineon and our newest addition e-savage with redcat racing brushless motor/esc (awesome motor/ok esc but crappy truck) from my wifes POS Redcat volcano epx pro. And now for the end results.

Performance: 5/5
Performance with these are what you would expect form a 20c 2s lipo. they have good punch and overall performance. Can't compare them to higher end lipo's as i haven't gotten to own any yet but my brother in law does have some SMC 5000mAh 2s that these perform just as good as from what i could tell (never ran them in either of my trucks so i am just going off of what i could tell when we ran together). I do have an older neu energy 25c 2s and these way out performed that battery and look nicer to.

Conclusion: total rating is 10/10
I am very happy with this purchase and plan on buying Blue Lipo's again from www.Hobbypartz.com if they have what i need in stock. and i would recommend these to anyone looking for a good cheap lipo battery. Thanks for reading and there will be more reviews to come!!

My idea doesn't exactly refer to the packs themselves, but maybe you could call or email Hobbypartz with a question and describe their customer service in your review. Service after the sale is one of the few things holding many people back from trying the cheaper products. Also may be worth noting if they can tell you when certain items will be in stock.

Your review is missing the individual cell voltages after the LiPo cutoff kicked in. It would be nice to see how many volts difference between the cells after a good run.

they were only about 0.02v out of balance when i checked but i will get exact readouts next time i run them and i will do it in 2 different brushless systems to see if they stay about the same.

Some wattmeter or Eagle Tree results would be helpful as well. I'd like to know what voltage holding capability looks like to a good amp draw. Electrical performance is what you're paying for.

I don't have any of those tools to check those out as i am just getting started for everything and currently don't have to much money to get everything going right away. Any donations of these type of tools and such would be awesome if anyone wanted to but not needed haha.

they shouldnt be shipped at full charge, but that does seem a little low. maybe 3.6 would be right, the should have about 65% of charge in them for that kind of shipping.

iv asked about when things will be back in stock before and i got a e mail the said "the item should be restocked in 2 to 4 weeks, thank you" i asked again about the same item 2 weeks later and got the same e mail.

i ordered a few 5000 2s packs and a 3s 900 for my heli, they set the 5000's abd a 900 2s pack, called em and they told me they would send me a return form to fill out and i pay the return shipping, once the wrong pack got to them they would send me the right one

the voltages from the cutoff is at 3.1 and 3.12v for each cell and it has been on 3 batteries so far like that so they stay pretty balanced which i am very happy with
