Default Which Radio?

So im looking into a new radio before i start going crazy with buying cars and having all these radios lying around. Any ideas on what i should be looking at? I am kinda leaning toward spektrum more than anything but i figured i would ask what everyone on rctech thinks.

I just recently retired my original DX3 for a new DX3R because I wanted to add channel mixing. This radio is amazing! super easy to set-up and adjust. Very versatile, I use mine for 1/8 scale electric with the aux channel running the brake servo, believe its the only Spektrum that can mix throttle channels, DX3S only does steering(4ws for crawlers).

If its in your budget the DX3R is a great choice!

Dont really have a budget, if its worth it ill buy it. Thats pretty much how i feel haha. Why have the aux channel run the break servo? I dont know much about better radio's. How many different cars can the radio handle?

It has 30 model memory and works with all the spektrum surface receivers, even my old one!

I am running a converted 8T nitro with the Tekno clutch which uses a brake servo. Basically the ESC runs the motor forward only, the braking is controlled by the servo with the original mechanical brakes. Allows me to adjust brake bias and keeps the motor and esc cooler since its not braking at all.

Get the DX3R, you'll love it!

Wow thats ingenious. My Rustlers ESC motor combo is pretty good for out of the box bashing so i highly doubt i would need any reason to keep the motor cooler but that is still awesome, ill definitely look into the DX3R.

you could go with the standard m11 which you could pick up for around $250-$270 at many online rc stores

If money is no object go with the Futaba 4PK. It has more features than you will ever need.

You'll get a biased opinion from what everyone owns.

I say DX3R - that's because I own one (and I do happen to like it). It's light and has every feature you need. It also only take 4 AA batteries compared to 8 for other radios.

With that said, every radio mentioned is awesome - M11, 4PK, DX3R

Find them and try them and pick what's most comfortable.

I was in a similar situation as you, looked at them all & went with a sanwa
m11x a few weeks ago & love it. Has all the functions you need.

When i flew planes & gliders i learnt the hard way, buy the best you can, other wise you will be disapointed & end up spending the money twice.

Go to a shop and look at & feel/hold the ones you are interested in, you may be suprised. Best of luck in the decission, leigh

I was in the same situation as you a couple of months ago. The best answer I can give you is to get the best one you can afford

DX3R - $320
M11X - $370
4PK - $500

Personally I'd go with the M11X over the DX3R, for only $50 more you get more features (backlit screen, idle-up, ABS, traction control) plus a wall charger and rechargeable battery pack.

If money is not an issue, go with the 4PK. It's a lot more expensive than the rest, but it's the only one with a 4th channel

M11X cos it has got the fastest response time and 400M range proven. Try searching for Sanwa M11X on youtube and its a 2.17mins video clip. What's more with super response receiver (RX-451R) and digital servos you can further improve the response time to 2.5ms fastest in the market.
