shoegoo for mounting electronics

I have had several fellow drivers advise me to use shoegoo to mount esc's and receivers when I was having trouble with servo tape sticking. Anyone have any experience with this?

That's how we used to do it back in the good ole days, even mounted steering servos in some of the Bolink cars with shoe goo. I have found that if you buy 3M brand double sided tape to use for mounting electronics your problems will be over. Just wipe both surfaces clean with rubbing alcohol, then apply the 3M tape(try not to touch it with your fingers) and stick it!

^^Thats pretty much what I do except I use what 3M calls mounting tape. It has a little cushioning to it which may help isolate electronics from shocks amd vibration.

Shoe Goo will do the job though, just a little more work to clean up when you have to remove it.

Thanks for the feedback. I got some Trinity stuff at the hobby shop I was not too fond of. I guess this is something I would find at a craft store/Walmart/hardware store as opposed to the hobby shop.

Silicone sealant will also work and easy to remove.

I could not find Shoe Goo anywhere in my town but I did find Amazing Goop. It's the same company and basically the same stuff. I don't use it to mount electronics (double-sided tape) but it's tough stuff.

Shoe Goooo is your friend !! LOL. I mount anything that could move that is not susposed to with shoe goo with no problems at all, even batteries and after your run or what ever it just simply peels off of the bottom. I have been doing it for years and NEVER worry about ANYTHING moving. Good luck in what ever you chose!

Thank you all for the replies. It looks like I have a couple good options here.

you can find it in the shoe dept at wally world.

I don't shop there. Amazing Goop is available most places anyway. Besides, I use servo tape to mount all my stuff.

True, & most athletic wear stores have it too. Plus, it's useful for other things like patching cracks in a body....

I've read that silicone gives off something as it cures (acetic acid vapor?) that is nasty for delicate electronics. I avoid it for that reason.

I think ShoeGoo is a type of neoprene, not silicone, so it may be safer.

I'm not sure about this; just throwing it out there....

Take it easy,

I've been using Shoe Goo for at least a decade and never had an issue. It's easier to peel off than servo tape too...

+1, the Shoe Goo just peels off, butservo tape tears at the foam and then you have to peal off the tape on both sides.
