So I was ripping on the Savage today, minding my own business, then all of a sudden POOOOOOOOOOF. Frickin' ESC decided to just smoke up on me for no apparent reason. Like what the... I mean I bought the Tekin RX8 speed controller/T8 2250 setup because I heard some many good things and never a complaint. Of course I get the lemon...

Like really, if I want to dump that much money into an ESC I want to have something that will last me forever. Like really, I might just have to go with Castle Creations after this. Next best thing and at least I won't have to worry about unnecessary fried speed controllers for no reason.

Like really this suck, can anyone help me really? I would love for this to be resolved... I mean way too much money if stuff is going to break all of the time. I would highly recommend Tekin before this, but now, not so much. I would love to be supportive again though.

Here are some pictures, caps blew out and the black wire to the motor desoldered itself somehow. Right before it blew up on me I heard a nasty grinding sound. The motor however is fine and I do not know why it would do that. But It just POOFED on me. Here you go guys:








So Tekin if you want to help me out with this and keep my business that would be awesome, lets just make sure I do not get a piece of crap again. So, so far Tekin is kind of lame.

key word is Fluke - - cannot make a conclusion on anything over a self-declared fluke - - if this was a constant problem, or could be easily caused by outside stimulus, then you could say you are not impressed - not now

i do hate to hear about that though, electrical explosions ALWAYS suck! - - and it is understandable to be disappointed with tekin, but not angry - tekin hasn't done anything to you yet, and i don't think they need yet another tread THAT IS IN ALL CAPS WITH A BUNCH OF EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

something catastrophic happened in that ESC, they just don't decide to spontaneously combust. - - - something came loose, broke, or got flat-shorted, see if you can find the problem yourself, so you can better prevent this from happening again in the future when you get the RX8 back from tekin - they should help you out with this one

Who soldered the wires to the motor?
Looks like it had a major arch across "b" & "c", could have been where the "fault" started. Has the c wire broken or solder melted? In the photo it looks like its broken, causing massive load = boom with smoke let out of box. Leigh

All that black at the motor suggests it was arking like crazy, thus drawing more amp and thus melt down internally.

Could have been bad soldering or you could have had a few loose strands of wire touching the next teminal over and thus the arking.

sorry, but you are handling this the wrong way. no need to disassemble the thing and post pics on line, you may just be making yourself look bad in the end. just pull it out, take it back to the lhs and go from there. if they can't help you send it back to tekin and i'm sure they will let you know what you did wrong, they have seen it all before. when you get it replaced and you are impressed be sure to post those results on here as well.

keep your business? they already got your business, and apparently you were never going to buy another one cause you thought this one should last forever. have you contacted tekin or are you waiting for them to randomly check every rc forum and find your post? then somehow figure out who you are and a new system show up at your door in an overnight box?

I agree with the posts above...Looks like some arching going on.

Have you tried calling/emailing them? In my experience, their customer support is OUTSTANDING. I just recently dealt with them and was very impressed.

Although you have every right to, I believe "stating your case" negatively on a public forum may not be the best approach to get the help you're looking for. Especially since the pictures you posted may actually incriminate you.

My guess is yr motor wires were not soldered properly and came off and touched each other cause a short circuit and the ESC cap to blow.

And that is what caused the fried ESC, guaranteed. Your motor wire came loose; the sound you heard was probably as the solder joint was failing the motor was cogging. Lead "C" came off, hit lead "B" and smoked the ESC.

Funny, I fried my RS speedo to the point where the battery posts where completely missing, and that part of the case was melted. I shipped it out on a Friday, they had it Tuesday, and shipped another to me that Thursday FREE OF CHARGE. Maybe you should call Tekin and speak to customer service in a nice calm and collected voice, get the RA number from them, fill out the form and send it in. Like really, there customer support id the best. Like really.............................

Ok by reading your thread if tekin lost your business it wouldn't be a bad thing. You are downgrading and disrespecting their name and products for what looks to be a very shotty soldering job. Tekin's CS is one of the best in the game and will do amazing things. Point in fact that I started buying tekin because they don't hide from problems, they work them out and try their hardest to solve them out. Another ie mudvayne's esc blew up 2 or 3 weeks ago. He didn't threaten tekin or anything just called and told them what happened and look what happened...POOF a brand new esc sent on its way to his house.

People who just threaten others to see if they can get what they want is a high schoolish and b doesn't work in the real world. Im positive that if any and I mean any tekin driver see's this, ty, randy or anyone else they are going to already be put off by the comments you have made. Disrespecting an entire company just because something bad happened is not a good thing. As an old saying goes sh*t happens, but its the cs who can fix your problems and they will do there best to do that. You didn't even give them a chance to solve any problems.

Btw castle is having problems with their speedo's also
