These are special adapter boards since they have multiple balance ports built in to the adapter to enable this chargers multiple lipo charging capability. These are about 2x the price of a normal board for other chargers.

The multiple lipo charge capability s a nice feature given the power and max charge current available from this charger.

The multiple boards allow you to do what? Charge more then one batt. at the same time? How does that work. Do they all get hooked in series power wise at least? Thanks

The prob with charging 2 lipos connected in series has never been the charging - its the balancing. The balance conns have to be connected in series as well and thats a prob. There is a right way and a wrong way that can potentially short the batts and is risky if you don't understand what you're doing. That adapter board has multiple, same cell balance connections - ie several 2S ports, a few 3S as spelled out by the chargers capability and output power.

You connect say 2 3S lipos with a series connector and then plug the balance taps from both lipos into the 208B's balance board and charger sees it as a single 6S lipo with 6cells. Perfect, no guess work, no risk with a home brewed series balance harness.

When you say you connect the two cells with a series connector. Are you saying say you take the Pos. from the charger to say the pos. of batt. #1 then take the Neg Bat.#1 to the Pos. of Bat.#2 then take the the neg. of bat.#2 to the neg. of the charger? And then hook up both ballancers to this board? Thanks again Duster your the best.

Thats is what a series connector does (above). Series makes the voltage add and is why once connected, instead of two 3S's you have the equivalent of a 6S. I made my ownseries conn, but they are so cheap I'd buy rather than do all that soldering again - costs almost that much for the Deans conns.

The hangup up with the parallel deal is the home made balance harness. I'd stick with what the charger is designed to do and thats series.

The 208B manual should have this covered on more detail.

You mean the 106B?

There is no dual charging capability with the 106B. For JST-XH, the balance conns plug into the side of the charger, any other type - then you buy one of the normal type balance boards. Max charge rate is half that of the 208b, 10amps vs 20amps

No I did mean the 206B. Not sure what the difference is. I think is has a lower wattage 300W vs. 350W it's cheaper. My guess if if will charge up to 6 cells instead of 8. I am probably looking into this to hard. Hate to spend money on the wrong choice right now more then ever. Just looked at a few vidio's on You Tube. WOW I think I might have to stick with NiMh. LOL

OK, I hadn't seen that before, I don't think Amain carries it, but Progressive does - its 300watts vs 350watts but the same 20amps max charge rate.

I don't see anything about series charging multiple lipos though.

Lipos are basically safe. WhHat you saw was results of deliberately overcharging at several times normal. Its actually not so easy to make one go off. Treat them properly and with the caution that they are due, its likely you'll never have a prob. NiMh explodes and scatters very hot shrapnel in the immediate vicinity. To me, NiMh is potentially more dangerous - they're easier to make a mistake with and cause an event.
