Anyone have any input on running the Futaba R6004FF in an indoor offroad car?

I haven't ever heard of it but just from looking at the site it seams to be a Proprietary rx only compatible with certain tx's.

"The R6004FF receiver will not work with that transmitter as it is ground transmitter."

this was what I got from Futaba. I didn't know there was a difference in the surface & air 2.4ghz systems.

doesn't make sense, but I guess that's why I had to ask.

I think Futaba keeps their surface/air systems separate because they require different design features. Air systems require more range than surface systems and normally have two antennas on the RX because aircraft can do 3D acrobatics. For surface systems you only really need one Rx antenna because cars/boats are 2D only vehicles.

Same thing pre 2.4 - air used a separate frequency, 72 vs ground 27 or 75Mhz.

They have to be diff so there's no possibility of interference.

Thanks for the responses. Futaba said it is designed in to their "firmware" and the two are not compatible.
