Ok, I just bough a new Dx3s...I cant find anything in the manual about it, does it have illumination? I thought i saw one lit up orange one time. Hmmm. Maybe it was a DX3R? I came from a m11 (i know, I know) and it was really nice having the screen light up at night. So if the dx3s does not light up and the dx3r does, I wonder if i can swap screens? The dx3r might be a little bigger, but the LHS does not have one in stock for me to compare to.
Or has anyone modded theirs to illuminate. I was thinking about moving the super bright orange led in the sxitch to the lcd...possibly getting 4-6 wide angle leds and epoxying by the screen. i'm aware the light is not going to be even...but its better than nothing. Any Ideas/answers?

No backlit yet, they are working on it, but probably won't be available until March. Last I heard.

so they are going to offer an add on back light, or I have to get a new radio?

Does the dx3r have a back light? i might sell mine if it does...havent even used mine yet..lol

No it doesnt. I think that part of the reason that it doesnt is that it only uses 4 batteries, so there was no way to have enough voltage to power the radio and a back light.
