everybody has their favorite servos, lowteks always let me down. my aces and jrs have been running 2 seasons without issue 1. i like the idea of rotating the main gear, you only use like 1/4 of the wheel anyways. i always thought it could be some grease that seeped down onto the pcb affecting the centering chip thing. run it till it don't run any more then send it in for warranty, done.

I love the performance of ACE...but they dont last and always fail at the wost times..... one of the best performing servo's I have used, however reliability sucks in a big way.........
|
I haven't had an issue with Ace servos yet. Replacement parts are cheap, too.

here's a little taste of what ive been through with Ace.....I honestly cant Count how many gear set's the 6 or so 1015's ive had let go...there were times when they would last a day or 2...other's would take a dump within the first couple laps of the rebuild......2 body's just outright died on me with zero chance of warranty as im in Canada and the dealer who dealt for Ace/AE wouldn't do anything for me due to them being used (never really understood that one)
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s...c/DSC_0021.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s...c/DSC_0022.jpg If you were around long enough this was one of the mods to keep the gear's where they were supposed to be..a set screw from the inside out and CA'd into place.....it worked....somewhat :weird:....the Brass bushing in the newer cases helps...but is only a band aid for a bigger problem. http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s...c/DSC_0025.jpg these pics also exclude all the parts/gear's that ive thrown out over the year's....I had sooooo many of the darn O-ring's for the top and bottom case i threw a whole stack of them and hardware in the garbage.....who needs 20 or so case o-rings. |
Integra you did have a bad run with them which is a shame as for me they have always been a very reliable servo. The guys in the uk running losi's also kept wrecking them which turned out to be a throttle return spring being to long from memory which loaded & killed them. Although many blamed the servo the spring & poor end point adjustment where to blame but no one admits that.

Ive used ACE for the last 3 years, and only had one 1015 get the 'shakes'...6 servos total, 2- 1313's and 4- 1015's
When youre looking for the most bang for your buck, they are hard to beat. |
Hi, maybe a little off topic. I have a Hitec 5955 steering servo in my truggy. Quite often when I blip the throttle with the wheels off the ground, it steering to the right. Possibly even while running as it pulls to the right somtimes, but I do have a pretty torquey engine. Does that sound like the same thing you guys are talking about with it trying to find center?
PS I think it's always done that and suspect it's not the servo. I'm putting a new radio in this year and that might be the problem anyway (figured it was receiver glitch). |
yes ace are known for the shake on steering but it's normal.I had one do it and never had any issues with it.
|
3rd season on Ace servos here and I race year round and multiple classes. It is just like any other product some people have no problems and others get plagued.

Not Normal at all...its the bushing's on the way out....give it enough time and you'll need a new set of gears Along with a new top case as it Will chip teeth if you let it go too long. |
My experiance with Ace has been mixed..but it has been with kopro as well.
I have an Ace 1313 that has only ever been used in throttle and has been great for about 4x seasons. The 1015 I have had mixed results and most of it stems from the fact they used just a plastic bushing in top case so first mod if you have an older one is to get the newer case with brass insert. I had 1x that lasted a year on old case before slogging it out...had another last 2x months. Had another do a main gear early on and never touched the plastic sacrificial gear...weird. I still have one with new case that has the shakes but stops when you place on ground and may do what Bren says with gear. I have seen aces full of mud and still working so I dont think they are that bad and I think all brands of servos have issues as they just dont seem to last these days...case in point I had a newly kopro japan reconned one go on me the other day in throttle on my Losi 8t 2.0 and have also had mixed results with this brand. |
Hitec....Tried (myself & others) Tested (Drake & Truhe stamp of approval) and True(You know there not gonna let you down in the middle of the A-main.
Why mess with the rest when you can have the best ? |
yeah might eventually get a couple of the HV Hitecs so I can run lipo without the reg...have a Ti 7955 is it? in SC10..not getting much of a work out I know:sneaky: but has been faultless...didnt they have issues in the early days? as remember they got bad raps here.
