im going to get a EZRUN-60A 8.5T combo soon and i was wondering were i could find some good batteries that don't cost so much.
i want the best bang for my buck any help..??:confused:
its going in a xx4 im not sure if i want to go lipo(pretty new with electric cars)

If you're really on a tight budget, look at the lipos from HobbyCity, they will be cheaper than anything else you can find. They will require less maintenance than NiMH and will use the same charger that you're going to need anyway.

Yes thats a great charger. I recommend that with some Zippy 4000mah hardcase lipos from Hobbycity. You will have a fast and reliable setup that is easy to manage and lasts for a long time. Lipo is not dangerous unless you really are careless.

how careless do u have to be with lipos? lol

charging or discharging them with out any sort of cutoff. they dont like being punctured either :P get hardcase lipos and charge them in a lipo bag and it would be tough to do any damage.

charging without a lipo charger would definitely do damage. Running without a cutoff would ruin them, but likely not cause a fire. Like he said use a Lipo Sack and do not puncture them and you will have to try pretty hard to do anything wrong.

Even with a so-called soft case, you'd have to do something very deliberatly stupid to cause a prob. I've seen them hit the ground in a plane with a pretty good amount of speed and nothing happened - except for totaling the plane.

Follow directions, use a lvc, use a charger than can handle lipo and you won't have any issues with them. The danger aspect of current generation lipo is way overhyped.

What do you need to charge? If you need to charge 6S lipos versus 2S or just NiMH batts makes a big diff in the charger you would be looking at.

To me what makes a good charger is one that is flexible in charging all the chemistries (Lipo, Li ion, Pb, NiMh and NiCd), easy to use (intiutive menu setup - something you don't absolutely have to have a manual for) and thats built well enough electrically and mechanically that it will give good service for a long time and numerous charge cycles.

that's the charger i have and i recommend it to everyone. it has a built in power supply, built-in balancer, and charges all common battery types. The only person that wouldn't like it are ppl running 4 or 6s lipos since it's only 50w and could only charge at 3.7 and 2.2 amps respectively, but for 2 or 3s users, you couldn't ask for more for the price. it has a quality feel to it, easy to use once you spend a few minutes figuring out the menus (which are very consistent for each type of battery), and it ships from the usa so shipping is a flat rate of 5 bucks. i absolutely love the thing.

Now that I quoted this, I see the link is to the HobbyCity Accucel-6 charger shipped from USA warehouse. This is where I got mine, its a great, full featured charger, having just about everything for everything. Storage mode for lipo, fast charge for lipo, auto for NiMH and more. I use mine for 18th scale 2 and 3S lipos and my bigger scales 2S lipos. Its a great charger at a hard to beat price, there are a lot of Accucel-6 owners on these forums.

Just a headsup, those chargers are known to overcharge everyone once and a while. Some overcharge everytime unless your paying attention to the voltage. With those chargers I would recommend a digital balancer that shows you the excact voltage of each cell. Losi makes and awsome one, and I believe there is another on the same site for around 40 bucks.

If you'll go into the Accucel-6 thread, you can find out how to calibrate it if it does overcharge. Mine doesn't, its .02v low according to my dvm which I'm not going to worry about. This thread, nearer the end than the front - search the thread, you can find it -
