Bad luck with Novak

Ok, I apologize for making it seem like Novaks are junk. I just got highly frustrated after having purchased not one, but 2 problem ESCs. I now know that buying used is, indeed, a risky undertaking and I won't do it again.

Are you using a Novak Motor? which one and what are your motor temps? sounds like you got a bad motor or someting wrong in the sensor I know the Havoc will thermal at 150* F im not sure about the GTB but the other ESC your using too??? I would contact Novak first before buying another Speedo I know a few racers in VTA that use the GTB and never had a problem and thats all Novak motors

Novak has a tech support team that would be more than willing to assist you with your problems. Because I am not part of Novak's technical support group, I suggest that you email [email protected] with your question. Before emailing, take a moment to review the instructions originally included with your Novak Item:

Just be glad your GTB didn't shoot flames while sitting on a work bench, once out of warranty.

What wind of motor on the GTB at the time, & working fan?

I have a couple that are running great, & hopefully don't fail randomly.

Of course it's long out of warranty. I was using a 13.5EX with a Novak fan on the ESC and an Integy on the motor. This really REALLY effing sucks. I bought the package on here and just got it a few days ago and now this. It's the 2nd second hand system I've bought on here and have had problems with.

ive heated my gtb up easily with a 8.5. its got pretty warm running 30 minutes. no problems though.

Well I just sent them an email, so hopefully they'll respond with something positive. BTW, I was running a 76 spur with a 19 pinion this last time if it matters.

Hmmm. after 20 years and just as many Novak speedos I've only had one go bad. Sorry about your bad luck but I'll still buy the orange stuff.

Jackster 10-09-2009 08:11 AM

That's great! I am really happy that you haven't had trouble with any of yours.

racer1812 10-09-2009 08:18 AM

Wasn't being a dink but don't slam Novak because you bought 2 esc's used and both are bad.....I had a XBR let the smoke out after 3 min of use, it happens to all of em' Novak, Tekin, CC, LRP.........

Jackster 10-09-2009 08:39 PM

Well they said they would look at it as a warranty issue for me so if they are willing to do that I might be more likely to buy another if it works out. I just don't understand why something would do that after less than 5 minutes of run time. It's clearly NOT normal. I don't care what kind of system it is.

dgdcustoms 10-09-2009 09:37 PM

when I had to send one of my GTBs in for warranty work, I got a brand new one back and a paper that stated it burnt up from a KNOWN mosfet problem. That didnt make me feal very good about them any more.So I sold the new one and my older one and got some Tekins. I have not had one problem with Tekin. Just my two cent worth...

Jackster 10-10-2009 05:22 AM

Thanks- that was my next course of action. Tekin has AWESOME deals for servicemembers. I was just trying to save a couple bucks by buying used. Maybe that was my problem.
