Default Epic Duo 2 timing ring numbers

I have been running a 17.5 Duo 2 with a Tekin RS for a couple of weeks now. With the motor timing ring is set at zero but I suspect that its actually got some timing. Using the Tekins boost on the timing I'm getting good speed but the motor is running hot and using more battery per run then my fellow racers with the same ESC but different motor.

Anyone know if setting the Duo 2 to negative on the ring is actually getting down to a true zero?
